Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved handmade things. I used to make scrapbooks and use old magazines and newspapers to design book covers, materials, holders, and pretty much anything that allowed me to express my creativity and bring out the artist in me. Creating things with my hands has always been my way of relieving stress. Even up until college, I still enjoyed doing art.
The last project I made was a scrapbook for one of my subjects. Some of my block mates, who are also my friends, decided to do it in my house, so, we spent the entire day making our scrapbooks together. We finished them in one whole day, and honestly, it became one of my core memories. I loved how everything turned out, and I even got a 1.25 grade for it! Anyway, TMI, but I guess this is one of the reasons why I’ve always had a soft spot for creating things by hand.
After
I graduated from college and stepped into the professional world, everything
slowly started to fade. My love for art and handmade crafts gradually took a
backseat. A part of me still wanted to bring that love back, but somehow, it
was hard to find my way back to it.
When I started freelancing, I finally had more time
for myself and the things I wanted to pursue. Taking this leap of faith felt
like an opportunity the universe had opened up for me. It made me think about
rediscovering the things I used to love and bringing back a part of myself that
I had somehow lost along the way. And I think this is finally the time to do
it.
While I was away from home, I found myself thinking
about something I used to love doing. Back then, art and handmade crafts were
my way of relieving stress. Those were the days when I felt like an artist. I
was just a kid, making things with my own hands and calling myself an artist. A
self-proclaimed artist, I guess. HAHA.
Somewhere along the way, that part of me slowly faded.
But now, I want to bring it back. I want creativity to be part of my life
again. I want to find comfort in it, relive those memories, and experience that
feeling of being carefree while doing something I genuinely love. So, I'm
bringing back one of those hobbies: CLAY.
There was a time when I loved sculpting with colorful
polymer clay. I used to make animals, different shapes, leaves, miniature
decorations, and all sorts of little things. It's one of the things I want to
explore again, and this time, I want to give it a real chance.
I've had this idea in mind for a long time, but I
never really got around to making it happen. Now, I finally feel the urge to
take that leap and see where it leads me. It's a long-overdue plan, but it's
finally happening. Today, October 10, 2026, marks the beginning of Ars NovaForma.
Funny enough, it only took me about 30 minutes to
conceptualize the brand name and do some research. HAHA. But even if the name
came together quickly, the idea behind it means something to me. Ars Nova
Forma is inspired by Latin words: Ars, meaning “art”; Nova,
meaning “new”; and Forma, meaning “form or shape”.
For me, it represents bringing new ideas to life
through handmade clay arts. It's about taking something that starts in my
imagination and slowly turning it into something real.
I know clay crafting isn't something new. A lot of
people have been doing it for years, and there are already so many talented
artists out there. But for me, this is something NEW. It's a new beginning, a
chance to reconnect with something I once loved, and an opportunity to discover
what I can create. This is my story, and I want to share it with you.
Maybe I'm not really becoming someone new. Maybe I'm
just finding my way back to the kid I used to be, with growth, passion, a
little more experience, and a different perspective on life. My new self? Or
should I say, my renewed self?
There will always be risks when you start of
something, but how long would I wait to try? I also knew even before I started
this that there are 2 paths where it will lead me, to fail or succeed.
If this fail, I will learn something to start anew, and if I succeed, this will
fulfill that kid’s ambitions.
